I totally forgot about updating last week, so I'll just do a double update today. During Week 3 on THM, I learned that breaking up with Sugar was absolutely the best decision I have ever made. I have not cheated much during this lifestyle change because I haven't felt the need to. Our FFA hosted a teacher dinner fundraiser one day that week at school. I skipped out on that because it's BBQ pulled pork on a bun, sweet coleslaw, chips, pop, and a ton of desserts to choose from. However, later in the day, one of my students brought me a pretty hefty serving of Dirt Cake. I don't know about you, but I LOVE dirt cake, and I didn't want to hurt his feelings, so I took it. I tried to eat it, but I only got 4 or 5 bites before I had to stop. It was so sickeningly sweet that I couldn't stomach it, and it pretty much gave me an instant headache. I didn't eat any more of it. The sugar in that "treat" made me physically ill for the rest of the day, and I began to wonder how I had ever eaten things like that on a daily basis before. Weigh in was great that week too.
Week 3 - 302.4 (-2.6 lbs, -26 lbs total)
Prior to starting THM, I had no energy and walked around in a sugar fog. I frequently dozed off anytime I sat down for more than a minute, and forget about exercising! After that great victory, I spent my weekend breaking ground and installing a new flower bed all by myself. It was hard work, but I felt so incredibly good being able to do it. I know for a fact that I couldn't have done this a few months ago!

A teacher friend who retired at Christmas surprised us with lunch one day this past week. I was able to enjoy it because it was a peppersteak tortilla soup recipe meant to be served over rice, so I just skipped the rice to make it a nice S meal. She also brought frosted fudge brownies. You'd think I would have learned my lesson after the dirt cake, but no, I just had to have one. I chose a super tiny one (maybe a 1"x1" square). It didn't make me feel sick like the dirt cake did, but man oh man did it drain my energy. I was so incredibly tired for the rest of the day. I have realized that I need to treat sugar like my old high school boyfriend. It's no good for me, and sweet and wonderful as it may seem, taking it back will only hurt me in the long run. Sugar and I are done, for good this time!
In fact, I am attending a birthday party for my best friend's daughter today. My friend just recently became interested in THM after me telling her of my success on plan, and so I am taking a slice of gluten and sugar free fudge brownie cheesecake for me and for her to the party because I do not want to be tempted to cheat.
Another thing that I have noticed is a huge change in my proportions. My size 24 pants have become very loose and baggy on my, and my 2X shirts fit again. This is both a wonderful and a frustrating problem to have, as I can't really afford to go shopping for new clothes just yet. I do have several pairs of 22 capris that almost fit, so in a couple of weeks, hopefully they will fit well again and it will be warm enough to wear them all the time.
Today's weigh in was wonderful as well, and I am so close to a breakthrough scale victory, that I can't wait to weigh in again next week. I am so incredibly happy with the results I am seeing.
Week 4 - 300.2 lbs!!!! (-2.2 lbs, -28.2 lbs total)
